Now, let’s jump into 8 ideas you can try right now — no scissors, glue, or parent donations required!

1. Predict the Chaos

Before reading, ask students what they think might happen if you took a mouse to school. Record responses on the board and compare them after reading. It’s a fun way to build curiosity and comprehension.

2. Mini Sequencing Game

After the story, challenge students to retell what happened using only their memory. Let them draw or verbally list the order of events. Need a printable version? We've got you covered in the bundle below.

3. Character Trait Hunt

What words describe the mouse? Make a list together as a class and back it up with examples from the story. You’ll build vocabulary while practicing text evidence.

4. “If You Take a ______ to School…” Writing Prompt

Let students choose their own animal and imagine what chaos would follow! This activity sparks creativity and ties in narrative writing skills.

5. Partner Reading

Reread the story in pairs. Have students trade off pages or read it with silly voices. It’s great for fluency practice and builds classroom community.
